CV - WOHRER Adrien

I have been an assistant professor at Université d'Auvergne for the last two years, teaching mathematics at the Institut Universitaire Technologique (IUT), and doing my research amongst the IGCNC team.

I am a researcher in computational neuroscience, which is the study and formalization of the computations at work in the brain. Most of my research so far has been dedicated to studying the neural basis of perception, both in the visual and tactile systems. My approach to these problems involves tools such as statistical learning, point processes, signal processing and information theory.

In parallel to these former centers of interest, I am currently setting the basis of a statistical study on the therapeutic effects of Deep Brain Stimulation in patients suffering from Parkinson's disease, and how these effects can be (partially) predicted from the geometrical structure of each patient's deep brain anatomy.


Short Bio

  • I have an Engineering Degree from École Polytechnique (obtained june 2003), and a Masters Degree in mathematics, vision and learning (MVA) from École Normale Supérieure de Cachan (obtained june 2004).

  • I obtained my Ph.D. in march 2008 in the Odyssée Team (biological and computer vision, INRIA Sophia-Antipolis) on the modelling and implementation of a large-scale retina simulation software, under the direction of Pierre Kornprobst.

  • I was a post-doc at the Group for Neural Theory of Paris' École Normale Supérieure (ENS) from 2008 to 2012, working mostly with Christian Machens. I also occasionally gave courses in computational neuroscience at the CogMaster, Paris' research master in cognitive science.
